Our Services

We have extensive hands-on experience in providing the following services

Chemical Composition Analysis and Materials Characterization

This can be done

  • non-destructively using the portable X-ray Fluorescence (XRF) instrument
  • ICP-OES spark techniques for accurate determination of the elemental composition.
  • Semi-quantitatively using the energy dispersive X-ray of the SEM

Fractographic Examination

To determine the mode of failure and other fracture characteristics, the fracture surface examination at very high magnifications I performed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM).

Failure Analysis

Whether the damage occurred due to mechanical and/or corrosion related issues, we at METMAT forensics have acquired the expertise over the past 2 decades to examine various Cases from different sectors. We proud ourselves to provide a conclusive technical report including the likely causes of failure in a very quick turnaround to meet our clients’ requirements.

-Mechanical Failure (bolts, shafts, wires, etc..)

Corrosion Consulting

Our METMAT Forensics Experts posses a vast experience in investigating corrosion-related failures from various environments. Our practical expertise can assess the corrosivity of your system and the effectiveness of the mitigation programs through thorough examination of the corrosion deposits on the coupons. Corrosion-related Failures are Uniform,
Galvanic, Crevice, Pitting, Erosion Corrosion, Cavitation, SCC (Pipes, tanks, spools, etc,,)

Escape of Fluids

Catastrophic failure of pipeworks and/or pipe fittings at domestic/ commercial properties can cause severe losses to the contents of the property. Whether the leak resulted from a burst pipe, a damaged flexible hose, or a corroded expansion vessel, our experts can help you with your claim and determine the cause of failure.

Glass Failure Analysis

Unexpected spontaneous cracking of glass may occur at any point during manufacturing, transportation, and installation. Following the on-site investigation, a set of comprehensive laboratory-based failure analysis works using light optical and scanning electron microscopy is performed on the broken sample to exactly determine whether the glass failed due to manufacturing defect, design-related issue, impact, or thermal failures. If you have any enquiries, please get in touch and we’ll be glad to help you.

Coatings Failure Analysis

Paints and coatings are used in a variety of applications for multiple purposes including decoration. They prevent the corrosion products from developing on the material’s surfaces due to the contact with the surrounding atmosphere. Damage of coatings is repairable, however, to prevent failure in the future, a proper failure investigation approach is necessary to identify the root causes of failure. If you have any inquiries, please contact one of our specialists to discuss your requirements in more detail.
